Travel Alert!!!
Route 103 Bridge Closed
On October 13, the State began work to replace the Route 103 bridge over the York River. Travel to York Harbor Marine Service, Dockside Guest Quarters and Restaurant, both town docks, and the residences on Rivermouth Road will only be possible from the south side of the river. There will be no access to Harris Island Road from Route 1A/Lilac Lane. The bridge closing is expected to last at least 12 months. After the main bridge is replaced and reopened, two smaller bridges along Route 103 south of the river will also be worked on, extending the project out to late spring 2011.
> As you can imagine, this bridge project is going to present some major challenges to our business, the most important of which is the resulting inconvenience to our customers and vendors in getting to us. As the months go on, we will do everything we can to reduce these challenges and to keep you updated on the situation.
We plan to be open on our regular schedule throughout the project period. For this fall, our post Columbus Day schedule has now taken effect. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 - 4:30 and closed on weekends. We will close for our winter shutdown on December 22 and reopen January 25, 2010.

Getting Your Boat Ready for Winter
Winterize-to make ready for winter, make resistant against winter weather. At YHMS we can winterize most makes and models of outboard engines. We also winterize I/Os and inboard engines. When shopping for "winterization" service for your boat, make sure you ask what is included in the service; the definition of engine winterization varies from one service facility to another. For pricing and description of YHMS winterization services, view our current rate sheet (pdf format). We alo offer shrinkwrap and winter storage at YHMS. There are many reasons to cover your boat prior to winter storage. The principle reason is to keep out the rain and snow. Water can accumulate under rail fittings, hatches, hinges, rub rails and the like. When the weather drops below freezing the ice that forms may break or loosen fittings enough to create one or more leaks in the boat. Also by covering your cleaned boat it will remain clean and protected from the harsh elements of Mother Nature, including sun fading. We recommend always covering your boat as soon as possible to protect your investment during the off season. Winter storage is now underway. Our Storage Plus service includes hauling, bottom washing, blocking, stands, storage through May 30, 2010, and your spring launch.
If you are winterizing your engine yourself, we stock....
Stabilizer
- Fogging oil
- Gear oil
- Gear oil pump
- Fuel filters
- Oil filters
- Gearcase washers
Special order items are generally available in 1-5 days depending on the manufacturer.
