It's That Time Again! Time to Fish, have some Fun, and Contribute to the Community
The 3rd Annual Dockside Striper Tournament - a fishing competition for adults and children - has expanded both in length, species categories, and divisions. This year, fishing will take place over 3 days - starting on Friday, June 26, at 12:00am until Sunday, June 28, at 2:00pm. We hope you will find some time over the weekend to get out there and catch the big one!
The Captain's Party kick-off event and registration will take place on Thursday, June 25th at 5pm. The event features dinner on the lawn at Dockside Guest Quarters and Restaurant overlooking York Harbor along with raffles and a live auction. The community is invited even if they are not planning to fish, the Captain's Party guest fee is $35. There is no charge for those registered to fish. Dress is casual.
There will be a catch and release division for striped bass, while Bluefish, Atlantic Cod, and Mackerel will comprise the non-catch and release division (note: Mackerel is open to kids only, ages 5-14). A Women's Open category has been created for fly rod or open tackle. See the full rules on our website. Admission is $125 per adult participant ($50 for children 14 and under) which includes the Captain's Party and Awards event as well as a canvas bag from West Marine full of tournament swag including a t-shirt. As an added incentive, the first 100 registrants will also receive a gift card from Kittery Trading Post.
Proceeds from this tournament will benefit two not-for profit agencies - the Coastal Conservation Association of Maine (whose mission is to advise and educate the public on conservation of marine resources in the state of Maine) and York Hospital, a southern Maine community hospital known for its stellar, patient-focused health care.
