Deuterononomy 26:1-29:8 Moses describes in detail the ritual for an individual who completes a pilgrimage. Then, Moses explains the two choices Israel has for eternity. He teaches this by instructing half of the tribes of Israel to stand on Mt. Gerezim while the other half stands on Mt. Eval. Each set visually represents the two choices each of us has in life: the blessing or the curse. The choice is for us to make. |

 Dear Friends,
Summer may be quickly fleeing, but the warmth at Greenwich Reform Synagogue is heating up! While the days are getting shorter, the endless opportunities which GRS offers to those of all ages take off in full swing this week, beginning with our ever spirited, "Welcome Back Barbecue." Truly, this event is "opening day" for our congregation. It is indeed one of my favorite of events, as it provides an opportunity for all of us to greet old friends and develop new ones in the process.
This year, more than ever, our calendar is replete with social, educational, spiritual and social action projects for children, adults and families. Be certain to keep abreast in our weekly e-mails and on our website, for an incredible year for all!
Looking forward to sharing the excitement with all.

|  We are thrilled to announce that GRS has hired a new youth director, Allie Zur.
Alli has spent the last three years living, studying and working in Israel. Her studies spanned from social work and Judaism to Arabic and politics. She is eager to work with GRS teens and youth to share her passion for Israel, the Jewish people, as well as to inspire another generation with leadership and community service opportunities. Now that she is back in the States, she looks forward to being part of the GRS family and community and helping the youth groups grow. |

Jewish Family Services of Greenwich is offering the following programs, support groups and volunteer opportunities (For more information or to register for any of the following, please visit www.jfsgreenwich.org or call 203-622-1881):
JFS Support Groups: ($20 per session: Sliding Scale fees apply). - Adult Divorce: Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45pm.
- Children (Grades 4-6) of Divorce: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:45pm.
- Children (Grades 7-9) of Divorce: Tuesdays, 4:30-5:45pm.
- Bereavement: Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30am.
- Parents of Children with ADD/ADHD and Other Learning Disabilities:This group is designed to provide support and education for parents whose lives have been impacted by their child living with ADHD/ADD and learning disabilities. Eight Tuesdays, beginning October 23rd, 12:30pm - 1:45pm
- Broken Families Healing Hearts: This group is designed to give participants an opportunity to talk about strained family relationships Eight Thursdays, beginning November 8th, 10:30am - 1130am.
- Infertility Support Group: This group will provide a safe environment to share your thoughts, feelings and get support as you go through the ups and downs of this journey. Eight Mondays, beginning November 5th, 11:15am -12:30pm.
- Walking on Eggshells: Nurturing Jewish Identify in Your Interfaith Grandchildren.Come join this group to discuss the "dos and don'ts" of nurturing Jewish identify in your interfaith grandchildren. Four Tuesdays, beginning November 6th, 1:00pm -2:00pm.
- Parents of Lesbian. Gay, Bisexual Transsexual or Questioning (LGBTQ) Children: This group is for parents who are dealing with any stage of their family member's coming out process. Together we will explore the tumultuous process of accepting, understanding, and celebrating your children and their LGBTQ identities. Eight Wednesdays, beginning November 7th, 12:30pm - 1:45pm.
- Surviving and Succeeding as a Stepparent: This group will help participants with the challenges and opportunities associated with being a stepparent. Five Wednesdays, beginning November 14th, 12:30pm - 1:45pm.
- Caring for the Caregiver: Four Wednesdays, beginning November 14th, 9:30am - 10:30am.
