Torah Portion
June 23, 2012

Korach

(Numbers 16:1-18:32)

This portion tells the story of the rebellion of Korach, a Levite, and cousin of Moses and Aaron.  Korach rebels against the centralized power structure by suggesting to Moses, "Are we not all holy people?"  Dathan and Abiram, descendants of Reuben, rebel against Moses due to their fear of dying in the wilderness.  In one instant, God punishes all the rebels with death.

A  Message from Rabbi Sklarz

TODAH RABBAH
*THANK YOU * THANK YOU * THANK YOU
to OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS
to OUR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTORS
to the CIRCLE OF GIVING
& Exiting GRS President, BILL GRAD

Rabbi USE THIS ONE!

Dear Friends,

While every Shabbat is special, our upcoming Todah Rabbah Shabbat on June 22nd at 6:30 pm will be devoted to honoring the scores of members who make GRS such a strong, vibrant and dynamic congregation.  Together we will pay tribute to the many who generously support the Annual Circle of Giving and perform the myriad tasks necessary to keep Greenwich Reform Synagogue moving forward!

While of course bittersweet, we wil extend a loving Todah Rabbah, to Bill Grad, who has served our congregation with distinction for the past three years, as he bids farewell to his presidency.

Whether you are a volunteer, a supporter of the Annual Circle of Giving, or a devoted member who benefits from all the wonderful contributions of our volunteers and  supporters, please join us at GRS on Friday, June 22nd at 6:30 for this joyous Shabbat as we say Todah Rabbah!

L'Shalom,

Rabbi Andy

Important Update on the GRS
Future Building Plans

We are delighted to inform you that the deal with the Stanwich School has closed as planned and expected.

Our search teams continue to be in full swing, both to find temporary and permanent locations for our synagogue, religious school, and the future GRS preschool.  A number of options are under investigation, and although it's premature to share any details, several look very promising.  If you have any questions about the process or would like to suggest possible locations, don't hesitate to let us know.  If you have any suggestions for a temporary space, please contact Helen Stark at  203-622-1732 or stark110@optonline.net; if you have any recommendations for purchase options, please contact Sandy Soule at   203-637-7642 or sandy.soule@gmail.com

Andrew Liebers

Andrew Holder Liebers, son of Lawrence Liebers and Karen Bitar Liebers, and brother of Alexander, aged 18, will become a Bar Mitzvah on the morning of June 23, 2012, with a celebration to follow at MetLife stadium that evening. Andrew is a 7th grader and honor student at Western Middle School in Greenwich. Andrew plays baseball, flag football and basketball and is an avid hockey fan. For his Mitzvah project Andrew is taking his dog, Palmer Liebers, to visit with the elderly people at Nathaniel Witherall Home to keep them company this spring.
