Beha'alotecha
(Numbers 8:1-12:16)
God delivers the laws to the people about the menorah, the sanctification of the Levites, the second Passover, and the
making of shofarot (the trumpets). Also, three rebellions against Moses occur: first, the people demand meat in addition to manna, second, Eldad and Medad arise as possible prophets, and finally Miriam and Aaron rebel against Moses' power and ethical behavior.

A Message from Rabbi Sklarz

What A Spectacular Confirmation Service
Dear Friends,
How proud I am of our four Confirmands - Jonna Mosoff, Oliver Probst, Jonathan Rubins and Rachel Winpisinger. Last Shabbat, as we celebrated the Festival of Shavuot, our Confirmands led the liturgy in prayer and song, and they delivered extremely meaningful pieces reflecting their personal sense of Jewish identity and additional essays providing their understanding of an ethical maxim of a rabbinic sage of the Talmud. So much heart and soul was put into every detail of the service by our Confirmands, and the evening was enhanced with their musical talents with voice, violin and even shofar. How moved all in attendance were by the Confirmands' passion and commitment to Jewish life, and how touched we all were by the sense of family created.
As a rabbi, Confirmation is always a bittersweet experience for me. Sad, on the one hand, to know that our formal time of study together has come to an end, yet joyous to see the potential that lies ahead for each one of our Confirmands! Watch out - these four will indeed make their marks upon our world, both in the Jewish and secular spheres!
With great pride in the fruits of GRS,
Rabbi Andy Rabbi Andrew R. Sklarz, MA, MSW, RJE

Important Update on the GRS Future Building Plans
| | |
We are delighted to inform you that the contract with the Stanwich School has been signed, and all is on track for the closing on June 1, 2012. Our search teams are in full swing, both to find temporary and permanent locations for our synagogue, religious school, and the future GRS preschool. A number of options are under investigation, and although it's premature to share any details, it looks very promising. We don't want to miss any possibilities, so if you have any suggestions for a temporary space, please contact Helen Stark at 203-622-1732 or stark110@optonline.net; if you have any recommendations for purchase options, please contact Sandy Soule at 203-637-7642 or sandy.soule@gmail.com.

B'nai Mitzvah Profile - Alexandra Reice
Saturday, June 9, 2012
| | |
Alex ("Alexandra," only if she must) King Reice's, main interests are dance, fashion design, her friends, family and cat, Bentley. Worldly, with a keen intellectual curiosity, she loves to travel, and, despite her young years, she has visited various spots throughout the U.S. and Sweden, Finland, England, Scotland, France, Mexico, Canada, Ireland (well, just the airport) and the Netherlands. Yet despite these more exotic trips, her annual summer week long pilgrimage to Block Island - her special place - remains her favorite.
Born in Greenwich, CT on June 9, 1999, four years after her good friend and brother, Max. Alex attended the Julian Curtiss School and is now enrolled at Western Middle School where she is a straight "A" student. Her main interests in school are English and writing. Outside of school, Alex is a dedicated student of dance, both modern and classical, and an avid cyclist. Her perfect evening would be dining at Balthazar, followed by a performance at the American Ballet Theatre.
