Torah Portion April 14, 2012
| Passover
Traditionally one studies the Song of Songs. There is an allegory about the love affair between God and the Jewish people during the sacred Holiday of Passover, and why Rabbi Akivah referred to the text as the Holy of Holies.

ADULT ED TRIP TO THE YIDDISH BOOK CENTER, AMHERST, MA Sunday, April 22, 2012
| | |
GRS Adult education will host a day trip to the Yiddish Book Center, in Amherst, MA on Sunday, April 22nd. Lisa Gittleman Udi, our Director of Education, has agreed that this is an educational experience and any Sunday school child going on the trip will be given credit for attending Sunday school that day. A note to the teacher will attest to going!
The Center would not usually be open that day, and we expect there will only be one other group there. The trip is a little over 2 ½ hours from GRS. We will leave from GRS at 8:30 a.m. and arrive at the Book Center at approximately 11:00 a.m. We have also had a donation of a commercial van and driver (at no cost). Our tour will be the first order of the day. After the tour we will be able to go through the center on our own and/or have lunch at the open air market/restaurant next door. We will leave the Center between 2 and 3 pm depending on the desires of the group, arriving back at GRS before dinnertime.
The cost of admission to the Center is $8 per adult and $4 per child. Brochures of the Center are available at GRS and you may learn more at the Book Center website: www.yiddishbookcenter.org. To sign up please contact Ruth Mushkin at rmushkin@optonline.net.
