Torah Portion February 4, 2012
| Beshalach (Exodus 13:17-17:16)
The exodus from Egypt begins. Pharoah, in a change of heart, pursues the Israelites to the Sea of Reeds. Then, God parts the waters, allowing the Israelites to pass to freedom. The Egyptians drown as the waters return. In celebration of their freedom, Moses and Miriam lead the people in the poem known as "The Song at the Sea." As the scene changes, the people rebel against Moses and Aaron. The portion concludes with the attack by Amalek, who shall ever be known as Israel's antagonist.

A Message from Rabbi Sklarz NEW MEMBER CONSECRATION FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 6:30 PM
|
|
Dear Friends,
While every Family Shabbat is replete with ruach - spirit, song, birthday blessings, not to mention our wonderful pot-luck dinners full of child-friendly activities, this coming Shabbat, February 3, 2012, will mark the second GRS NEW MEMBER CONSECRATION - a welcoming of all new members!
Together, we will formally honor our new members as they come up to the bima for a special ceremony. Yet, beyond the pageantry, the key ingredient is YOU! Come meet and greet the newest gifts to GRS, as we expand and deepen our temple family.
Please RSVP to Louise Salzer at salzerhouse@aol.com to let her know what you will be bringing to our dinner.
Let us share the warmth,
Rabbi Andy
