!!CALLING ALL QUILTERS!!

Comfort quilts for Kittitas County residents
affected by the Taylor Bridge Fire
Greetings!

Since it has become national news, I am sure you have heard about the fire still burning in the Cle Elum/Ellensburg area in Kittitas County.  At this time more than seventy homes have been lost.

We would like to give you the opportunity to bless each of these displaced families with a comfort quilt.  This is our way of saying we love you and we care!

We are asking for the comfort quilts to be approximately 40"x70" (10" finished blocks).  Please refrain from baby or juvenile prints.  Mature themes at this time, please.  Cotton, flannel, and fleece are good fabric choices.

Our goal is to have the quilts ready for distribution by November 1, 2012.  Finished quilts can be sent to 208 W. 5th Street, Cle Elum, WA 98922.  Please ship them by ground FedEx or UPS (not express).  Please include a picture of you or your group with the quilt(s), and an address to send a thank-you note.

For our local  quilters, we will begin meeting at the Senior Center in Cle Elum on Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm starting September 7, and continuing on September 14 and 21.  Bring your sewing machine and notions.  There will probably be enough power outlets/strips, but if you have one feel free to bring it.  We will have kits cut and ready to sew if you don't have your own fabrics.  Please contact Bonnie Lemert at 206-818-6043 if you are able to participate.

Thank you so much for your giving hearts.  The recipients of these comfort quilts will definitely feel the love!
