The Crazy Quilt Shop
October 2011 Newsletter
Greetings!

No tricks, only treats in this issue full of exciting news!

HUGE STOREWIDE SAVINGS BEGINNING FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7

I have placed all cotton fabrics on the bolt on sale at 40% savings (one-yard minimum)!  In addition, all cotton pre-cuts are also 40% off (e.g. fat quarters, kits, panels). I'm in the mood to do some fall cleaning, so it's out with the old so we can have great new items in the spring.

Gutterman cotton thread is 40% off, Aurifil wool thread is marked down 40%, and notions are 10% offBooks and patterns are 40% off.  And for you wool lovers (or would-be wool lovers), all wool and wool kits are 20% off!!!

ADVANCES IN RETREATS!

But here's the really big treat!  When our popular retreats start up again in the new year, they will be held at a beautiful new venue!  The Hummingbird Inn has served us well, but I really wanted to find a space for you that would not require carrying machines and other equipment up stairs, as well as updated, newer amenities (five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and two kitchens!).  All the work spaces will be on the main floor.  There will be two large cutting tables and design wall boards galore.  One of the kitchens and three of the bedrooms are on the main level; two bedrooms are upstairs.  So many fewer stairs and steps!  It is located in Cle Elum, only a couple of miles from the shop, so you are still just a short hop up the hill to the shop in Roslyn!

This new retreat center is a dream come true for me, and I trust it will exceed the expectations of quilters and crafters who come to stay!  By the end of November I intend to have a virtual tour of the new retreat center on the website.  Be sure to check it out!!  By the way, retreat dates are filling up amazingly fast for 2012.  Retreat dates are available starting in mid-January.   Don't wait; secure a date for your group now!

PHILEAN RAFFLE QUILT WINNER

One of our local quilters and dear friend of the shop, Jean McDonald, held the winning ticket for the beautiful log cabin quilt raffled by the Philean Club to help fund local scholarships.

LITTLE DRESSES FOR AFRICA

So many of you were generous with your time, energy, and materials to make the colorful dresses bound for little girls in Africa.  One friend of the shop, Joanne Ferry, (also known as our resident overachiever) made One Hundred little dresses!  In total 150 dresses will be donated through Nancy's Notions to Little Dresses for Africa.

TUESDAY OPEN SEWING

Open sewing on Tuesdays continues to be popular.  For your planning purposes, however, the work space will not be available on Tuesday, October 25, because it is scheduled for a retreat.

It's been a wild and crazy summer and fall at The Crazy Quilt Shop!  Thank you to each of you who make the experience of coming to the shop each day such an enjoyable one.

Sincerely,

Nancy Bronk
