The July 1 deadline for registering your quilts in this year's show has past, but there is still some room in this year's venue for a few more. If you have quilts you would like to share and thought you'd missed the opportunity, it's not too late!
For those of you who have already turned in your forms, thank you! You may bring in your quilts between now and August 16. |

New in the Shop
So many new fabrics, books, and notions have arrived in the shop in the last month that I hardly know where to start!
Notions: - Double Diamond Ruler; use it to make the Divine Diamonds handbag pattern, also new in the shop. There is also a sample of what the ruler helps you accomplish.
- Fons & Porter mechanical fabric pencil
- Frixion highlighter heat erase (in three colors)
Books: - Quilts From Textured Solids by Kim Schaefer
- Your Machine's Decorative Stitches by Karen Linduska
Fabrics and Kits: - Autumn Inspirations by South Seas is our newest, absolutely gorgeous collection of sunflowers! Everything from a beautiful panel to every coordinate in the group. Two kits are available using these fabrics: a simple wall hanging using the panel and a 44x44" table topper.
- Christmas, Christmas, and more Christmas! Just in are some of Hoffman's beautiful classic designs, Christmas Past by Wilmington Prints, Angels from Above from South Seas, and Gifts of the Season, also from South Seas. Gifts of the Season and Christmas Past have panels for simple projects. Gifts of the Season includes a panel to make a darling advent calendar; come see the sample in the shop.
- Because I love paisleys so much I have begun to create a section devoted to the design also known as "Persian Pickle" and "Prickly Pear." Watch this section as more and more bolts arrive!
- We have kits for several patterns from books in the shop. Two use reproduction fabrics and samples are here to see.

Little Dresses for Africa
Little Dresses for Africa is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to distribute dresses to little girls in remote villages of Africa. Nancy's Notions is sponsoring this effort and more information can be found at the their website. (www.nancysnotions.com)
In a local effort to contribute to this cause friend of the shop Lynn Parker is going to demonstrate the very simple pattern for this shift dress on Tuesday, August 9, from 11 am to 3 pm. Bring your machine and some fabric to make one or more of these dresses. Depending on the size of dress, 5/8 to 1-1/8 yards of fabric, 2-1/2 yds. double-fold bias tape, 12 to 16" of 1/4" elastic, and coordinating thread.
Let's see how many dresses we can complete to send to these precious girls by September 15 and we will send them off to be delivered to Africa!
