"Old Meets New"   

Mark your calendars!  August 26-28, 2011, are the dates for the Third Annual Crazy for Quilts Show.  This year the show will be open for three full days.  Friday and Saturday hours are 9 am to 6 pm; Sunday is 10 am to 2 pm.  The show will feature both vintage and contemporary crazy quilts, quilts for wounded soldiers made by a group of ladies in Cle Elum.  There will be a raffle quilt, live music, and up to 250 beautiful quilts.  Anyone is invited to submit an application to show quilts.  Applications will be available with the May newsletter. 

  

New in the Shop!  

We have a nice selection of fabrics from the Toasty and Luminarias by Jo Morton from Andover.

  

We will be getting shipments from Island Batiks every month through the summer.  This month's batch is gorgeous!

  

And wait until you see the new wool kits and cuts from Woolylady!  In gorgeous, saturated, bright colors, these kits will get you into the feeling of spring!

On Open Sewing Tuesday, April 19, I will be demonstrating a new bag pattern that I just love, called Six-Pack Stack Tote.  Stop by anytime between 11 am and 3 pm on the 19th and watch how quickly this goes together.  It requires just six fat quarters...and it's reversible.  There's a sample at the shop for you to see!

  

Join us for a free picture quilt demo by one of our dear customers, Tina Mayo.  She started with one of her mother's wedding pictures and created a beautiful portrait quilt.  On Saturday, April 30, from 11 am to 3 pm, Tina will show us her process.  There is a sample currently hanging in the shop.

  

Leslie Smith, one of our most popular teachers, has scheduled a machine applique class for Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 11 am to 4 pm.  Class cost is $40 and a class supply list is available at the shop.  Leslie's classes fill quickly...I'm just sayin'... 

It does my heart good to see the retreat schedule filling up so early in the season!  Those of you who have been here before now know if you want a particular date, book it a year in advance!  July is the one month where there are three weekends available (July 7 - 11 is not available) so you still have a chance to book your retreat!

  

It is so much fun to hear groups of retreaters upstairs laughing, sharing, sewing, and enjoying each others' company!  I look forward to seeing those of you who have already booked a retreat this year.
