Happy Holidays from The Crazy Quilt Shop

Greetings!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  It's December already!  A time for gratitude and celebration.  I am grateful for you as a customer and friend of the Crazy Quilt Shop, and I celebrate the opportunity to bring you new and exciting fabrics, books, and notions in the new year!

HOLIDAY SHOP CLOSURES

The Crazy Quilt Shop will be closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays from Friday, December 24, 2010, through January 3, 2011.  The doors will be open again on Tuesday, January 4.

In addition, I am choosing to take some time off with my family to our favorite winter getaway so the shop will be closed from January 21 through January 31, reopening on Tuesday, February 1.

NEW IN THE SHOP

The new Aurifil threads are here!  So beautiful!!  In addition to a good selection of cotton threads, I have added their wool threads to our collection.  These are wonderful, and are intended to be used in your machine or by hand!

In the last month we have received a selection of the Mayfair collection for Liberty Arts by Kaffe Fassett.  These designs use Kaffe's sense of color to bring to life historical designs.

In addition, the brand-new Anandale collection by Jo Morton for Andover is in the shop!  So many possibilities with this group of fabrics.  Come see them and be inspired.

There are also some new shot cottons to fondle.  These are by Kaffe Fassett for Westminster.  They go beautifully with fabrics already in the shop, in addition to his hot-off-the press collection, which will be in the shop any day!

Whoa!  Wait!  Just Arrived!  Australian Aboriginal prints on cotton by M&S Textiles in Australia.  The artwork on the fabrics was created by indiginous Aboriginal artists.  This is really something special, new, different, and beautiful!!

SEW MATES

The Sew Mates will not meet in December.  We will gather together again in the new year!

BEGINNING QUILTING CLASSES

A reminder to those of you taking the beginning classes with Joanne, the last three classes are on December 4, 11, and 18 from noon to 3 pm.

If you would like to take this series of classes after the first of the year, let me know and I will put your name on the waiting list for the next series.  Maximum is eight for this class, so get your name in soon.

CRAZY QUILTING

We have been talking about it, gathering fabrics for it, reading books and watching DVDs to get educated...January is the month we are going to get some crazy quilting going!  Whether you are interested in crazy quilting by hand or machine there's a place for you in this experience.  On Friday, January 7, 2011, from 11 am to 3 pm, we will be getting excited about all the possibilities for crazy quilting.  As we get going, maybe we can work toward having some small works of crazy quilting in the 2011 Crazy for Quilts Show!

Crazy quilting isn't just about quilts, either.  The process can be used to make many small projects, purses, etc.  There are several books in the shop that will give you lots of ideas for projects.

Please join us for some fun on Friday, January 7!

Through the holiday season I will be collecting canned food donations for Inland Network's food drive.  Stop in, donate at least two items, and help yourself to a free fat quarter!

Most important of all, I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons and opportunities for wonderful memories.
