Greetings!
We're back!! As we write this newsletter we are still recovering from an amazing four and a half days at International Quilt Market in Houston, but it was worth every bit of flying, walking, sitting, and talking! Below are a few highlights of what we saw and loved and have chosen to bring in to the shop for you. New fabrics will begin arriving next month, hot off the presses, and that stream of exciting new things will continue into May 2011.

|
| M&S Textiles | | |
We fell in love with these Aboriginal fabrics from Australia. Behind us are some of the quilts made of these fabrics. Hang on to your hats--this stuff will blow you away! |
| | Island Batiks | | |
You know we love batiks at The Crazy Quilt Shop! And we love this new vendor. The fabrics have a "lightness" to them that just makes them light up. |
| | Mary Flanagan Woolens | | |
We went on the hunt for new and exciting wool options. We fell in love with Mary Flanagan and her wools. We were able to meet with her in person and fondle so many amazingly beautiful shades of wool. |
| | Woolylady | | |
Woolylady is actually two ladies and they are both delightful. Their wools are bright and beautiful, and a nice addition to the more muted colors that we have in the shop. And their kits! These are going to knock your socks off! |
| | Kaffe Fassett Winter 2010 Collection | | |
Not only did we select for you some brand-new fabrics by Westminster, we also got to spend some time with Kaffe himself. He shared some of his insights and thoughts into how he designs fabrics and uses them in his quilt designs. There were also 15 of the quilts from his book Quilts en Provence at the show, so we got to see the quilts up close and personal!

| | New Threads Coming! | | |
I have been on the prowl for the best threads to have in the shop. After much looking, comparing, and figuring, I decided to go for the top of the line because my customers deserve it! Aurifil threads are made in Italy (even the lady who helped us make the selections was Italian!) Not only are we going to have their most beautiful 40-weight threads, but also wool thread, which will be great for crazy quilting or any kind of wool project that you want to do by machine.
|
| | New Jo Morton Collections | | |
Jo Morton's newest collection by Andover, Anandale, is on its way. We picked two of the three colorways, one of which is soft pinks and browns--a really nice addition to our reproductions wall.
In addition to Anandale, two spring collections will also be arriving as soon as they are available! |
| | Embossed Cottons | | |
We came across something we had never seen before--embossed cottons! First saw them in a muslin-like color, and then found that they were available in many colors and embossed designs. We just couldn't pass them up! We know you will love them as much as we do!

FLOWERS OF THE SUN COLLECTION BACK IN THE SHOP
For those of you who have been waiting for our final order of the Flowers in the Sun collection...it's here! Whether you want a kit for the display quilt (with or without backing) or selected yardage from the bolts, now's the time! Two previous complete collections have already sold out. Last chance for sunflowers to cheer up the coming winter days!
The class beginning later this month is full, but if you are still interested in such a class, let me know and I will put you on a list for a possible additional set of classes after the first of the year.
NOVEMBER SEW MATES
The Sew Mates will meet on Wednesday, November 17, at 6 pm. As always, anyone interested in joining the fun and camraderie with sister quilters is most welcome to come and check it out! It's a great way to get involved with the local quilting community, especially if you are new to the area.
NEW BOOKS
There are new books in the shop, including Fat Quarters Anonymous and Strip Therapy 6. If you are addicted to either fat quarters or designs using 2-1/2-inch strips, one of these books could be just right for you! Kaffe Fassett's newest book, Quilts en Provence, is now in stock, as well as more copies of his Quilt Romance. These books will get you all revved up to work with his amazing fabrics coming in soon.
NEW WOOL KITS AND THREADS
I have brought in several new wool kits from Primitive Gatherings. If you are a lover of felted wools, you will want at least one of these new designs!
WOOL KITS MADE TO ORDER
The amazingly talented woman who makes up all of our felted wool samples is now making up the kits to order. If you don't want to make up these wonderful projects yourself, you can place an order at the shop for the one (or more!) you want. If you are interested, prices are available at the shop.
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSURE
The Crazy Quilt Shop will be closed for Thanksgiving and the day after--November 25 and 26. We will be open again on Saturday, November 27. May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!
I am so excited about all the wonderful things coming into the shop over the next several months. I went to Market to find something new and different for you, and I think I even exceeded my own expectations! Our customers were constantly in the front of our minds as we made choices and decisions. I hope you fall in love with them like Debbie and I did!
