1,000,000 PILLOWCASE CHALLENGE

As of June 1, over sixty pillowcases have been created and donated here at the shop for the Challenge.  Thanks to the Sew Mates and some generous customers who made this number possible!

The plan is to donate the pillowcases to North Star Lodge, the cancer center in Yakima where many Kittitas county residents go for treatment.  The gift will be made in the name of Alma Garvan, who spoke highly of her experience at North Star Lodge, and whom we miss daily.
June has arrived and things are heating up at The Crazy Quilt Shop!

Probably the most important topic right now is the upcoming 2nd Annual Crazy for Quilts Show, "It's a Family Tradition."   Application forms are available now.  Send us an e-mail and we will forward you the form.  Application forms are also available at the shop if you want to stop by and pick one up.  Applications will close on July 15 so don't wait!  Once your application has been received you will be notified by phone or e-mail regarding which quilt(s) we have room for in the show. Deadline for delivery of accepted quilts to the shop is August 14.

More details to come as they become available!  Feel free to call or write if you have any questions.  Be sure to mark your calendar for the dates of August 27-29, 2010, so you can be here to enjoy the fun.

June Sew Mates Gathering
Wednesday, June 23, from 6 to 9 pm is the next scheduled gathering of the Sew Mates here at the shop.  This is a slight change from our usual day of the 3rd Wednesday.  (I'm going to be floating on a river with a fishing pole in my hand during the usual week of SMs.)  This month's theme is "finish a UFO!"  Bring an unfinished top to work on, or, if you're an overachiever, bring finished quilts for show and tell!
Fall Fling Retreat!

fall fling quiltThe girls had such a fun time at our first Spring Fling Retreat that I have decided to schedule one for fall.  Mark your calendars for September 10 to 12, 2010.  Stay at the Hummingbird Inn with your fellow retreaters and enjoy a great class taught by Mo Shepard.  Here is a sample of the project she will teach, using the "bulls-eye" raw edge machine applique technique.  Sign-up is first-come, first served.  There are just six spots still available for this retreat.  Cost is $175 per person, which includes lodging, class, and lots of fun!!
New Featured Artist
Teri Lou Dantzler
I am featuring a new local photographic artist in the shop.  Her name is Teri Lou, and she does amazing work.  I am so excited to be able to offer her works, from postcards to larger pieces.  All of her art here in the shop features local Roslyn locations and scenes.  Perfect for gifts, too!

Thank you once again for your support and patronage.
