The Crazy Quilt Shop
 May 2010 Newsletter
Greetings!

May is the month to celebrate Mothers.  To those of you who still have your mothers, be sure to make them feel special this month.  And for those of us whose mothers have passed, either recently or in the near or distant past, let's remember our mothers, too.  Such a precious thing is the bond between a mother and her daughter.

Sew Mates

The Sew Mates will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, from 6 to 9 pm.  This month the plan is to make pillowcases for the One Million Pillowcase Challenge (see below).  There are pillowcase kits availale for purchase at the shop, or bring your own fabrics.

We love seeing new people join the group; it adds another level of energy and creativity.  Sew, please join us!

One Million Pillowcase Challenge

Calling all those of you who sew!  We have received the first contributions of pillowcases to the Challenge.  The first batch is designated to go to North Star Lodge in Yakima in memory of Alma Garvan, mother, grandmother, quilter and friend.  Alma spoke highly of her experience at North Star Lodge, and we would like to honor her with a gift to them.

A HUGE thank you to one of our amazing, generous customers, Mary Howell, who has made and donated 27 pillowcases!

2010 Crazy for Quilts Show -- "It's a Family Tradition"

It's time to Call All Quilters!  The second annual Crazy for Quilts Show is quickly approaching.  The dates are Friday, August 27, through Sunday, August 29, 2010.  This year's theme is, "It's a Family Tradition."  All quilt entries are welcome; I would especially like to feature quilts with family ties, quilts made by a family of quilters, and generations of quilters.

Registration forms will be available soon.  Each quilt submitted will require its own registration form, along with a picture of the quilt and information on the quilt's size, name, history, and whether or not it is for sale, and if so, at what price.

If you would like to be on the mailing list for upcoming e-mails related to the show, please let me know via e-mail.

In addition to May being for Mothers, it's also the time we begin that delicate balancing act between quilting and gardening.  I wish you plenty of time for both!

Sincerely,

Nancy Bronk
