Joes' Presidents Corner
If one word describes the HOLIDAY SEASON - that word would be GIVING.
The sign over the locker room leading to the practice field says "What I held back today is lost - What I Give today will make me and our team better." That is 'giving' alright and it is the secret to becoming a better athlete...
... I think of 'giving' in another context. The 'giving' that takes place through life's everyday problems that we all face. The giving of your most valued possession, TIME. You know of whom I write; volunteers put aside their needs and look for those who they can help. Check out a YouTube video of a great pass play or cheer stunt at the AYF/AYC National Championships, but look closer, beyond the subjects to the sidelines with the Coaches and Administrators and then beyond them to the Parents in the stands. The giving must take place for many years to create the fine-tuned athletes you see. At birth, humans are Gods most helpless creatures; they need nurturing and love to survive. Our community can rejoice in knowing youngsters have been afforded an opportunity to become student athletes due to many who have given to them.
The windows of the world are our eyes. Clear vision through your windows allow you to see others. Those in a time of need are obvious and accomplishments are clearly celebrated. However, life's battles sometimes cloud that view and the window becomes opaque developing a backing much like a mirror. The result is people who see only themselves.
This Holiday Season, American Youth Football and American Youth Cheer thank you Coaches, Administrators, Parents and our Great National Staff for keeping their eye-windows clear and focused on Giving to others. May the blessing of Giving remain in your heart year-round
