Education Programs on Vermont's Transportation Infrastructure

   

Two related programs feature presentations on

Planning for Vermont's Transportation Infrastructure and Sustainable Transportation Alternatives

 

Acorn Renewable Energy Co-op and Addison County Regional Planning Commission will be presenting two related programs on Vermont's Transportation Infrastructure. The first program, "Sustainable Transportation Alternatives", will be presented on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. at the Ilsley Library Community Room, 75 Main Street (rear entrance) in Middlebury.

 

The two-hour presentation and discussion will begin with Mark Smith, PE, a Senior Project Manager at Resource Systems Group in Burlington, speaking about Vermont's first Complete Streets Project, which has been implemented in Burlington. Smith has over 18 years of general civil, highway and traffic engineering experience and has provided technical assistance, design, permitting and management services for numerous local, regional and state projects involving traffic analysis, intersection reconfiguration, and highway design. In addition, Matthew Robinson, Landscape Architect with Landworks, Inc. in Middlebury, and Jan McCleery, Starksboro's representative to the Addison County Transportation Advisory Committee, will present a program on the Starksboro Complete Streets Project, which is in the design phase. Finally, Nadine Canter Barnicle, Community Relations Manager for Addison County Transit Resources, will present a program on Addison County's expanding Community Transportation Infrastructure.

 

The Co-op and ACRPC have also scheduled a related program on Planning Vermont's Transportation Infrastructure for Wednesday, December 7, at the ACRPC offices on Seminary Street in Middlebury.

The program will feature Tom McGrath, University of Vermont Transportation Research Center and Coordinator of the Vermont Clean Cities Coalition, presenting an overview of Vermont's Transportation Infrastructure, the "Clean Cities" initiatives, and eco-driving. In addition, Kevin Behm and Kevin Lehman, Planners at the Addison County Regional Planning Commission, will present on their electric vehicle (EV) demonstration project. ACRPC has converted a Toyota Prius into a plug-in hybrid capable of 100+ MPG and is planning to install two EV charging stations in Middlebury.
