 Starrco's Call to Action The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a special Charitable Organization to Starrco. Only a few short years ago a Starrco partner, Rod Jack of Storage Solutions, Inc. was informed that his son Tucker had CF. We would like to take the opportunity to educate all of you on this condition and the advancements the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making to help these children and their families.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
- clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
- obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Life expectancy is 37 years for CF patients.
Recently, the FDA has approved Kalydeco, the first drug to treat the cause of cystic fibrosis. Right now, Kalydeco has only been approved to treat a 5% of the CF population.

Mhia Board of Governors
On Monday, January 23, 2012, Starrco President, Bryan Carey was elected to the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) board of Govenors. The Board of Governors consists of the officers of Material Handling Industry plus the Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel of the corporation. The Board of Governors serves as the Board of Directors for Material Handling Industry.
In February 2012, tens of thousands manufacturing, supply chain and logistics professionals from more than 80 countries attended MODEXSM 2012. They were greeted by over 500 exhibits covering 150,000 net square feet. MODEXSM 2012 will showcase equipment and systems solutions as well as provide learning opportunities that span the entire supply chain, from material handling to manufacturing to assembly to distribution to logistics to delivery to disposal. Bryan Carey and other Board of Governors were there to kick off the huge event.
