What is a cleanroom?
Wikipedia defines a cleanroom as an environment, typically used in sensitive material manufacturing or scientific research, that has a low level of environmental contaminants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles and chemical vapors. More accurately, a cleanroom has a controlled level of contamination that is specified by the number of particles per cubic meter at a specified particle size.
Does your facility require a cleanroom?
If you are manufacturing, assembling, inspecting, or packaging products like electronic or optical equipment that is sensitive to airborne contaminants, you clearly benefit from operating in a cleanroom.
If you are manufacturing or handling medical devices, compounding sterile drugs, or operating under government-approved Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines, you will most likely be required to have a cleanroom.
If you do not fit into either category above, you may just need a controlled environment. This could be an enclosed area with considerations to temperature and humidity control with increased room air changes, and positive pressurization. Or perhaps you just need an area cleaner than your warehouse.
Whatever your needs or requirements, the Starrco Cleanroom Division can help. Let us assist you in deciding which cleanroom or environmental enclosure is right for you. Our design staff will walk you thru the basic understanding of site and floor planning, materials of construction, code requirements and regulations, engineering, air filtration, air change rates, temperature and humidity control, personnel protection, maintenance and housekeeping, and finally budgeting and life cycle cost analysis.
