I am catching up on all my E-Mails as not been around for a while so if you did mail me then I will do my best to get back in touch this week.
Bowling wise the new league is now running but I won't be able to bowl for at least 2 months so London 2012 is now looking less likely :-)

Greetings!
How are you?
I hope you are doing really well and are wrapped up nice and warm on this 'fresh' Saturday morning.
It has been a strange week for me this week as I have had some great stuff happen but also had some problems. The good stuff was that it was my 4 year anniversary since I decided to be slim and I went to Florida with the family for a holiday. The problems were that I had a big technical issue at work and I also fell down the stairs 12 hours before going to Florida and broke my ankle and spent the holiday in a wheelchair.
People assume that it ruined my holiday, but it didn't! I wasn't focussing on the bad stuff. I was too busy enjoying everything else. Now the old me would have thought 'what's the point in going, can't go on the rides etc etc' but, as they say, life is too short. Therefore, I have officially become a wheelchair expert! I can skid a wheelchair, and spin it round like a top and, ultimately, what is important was the time I spent with Jo and the kids and not the fact I couldn't go down a water slide!
So, as always, I turn this to you? When you have something not go your way do you let it hit you hard? Do you dwell on it? However bad a problem seems today, will it really matter in 100 years from now? How many times in the past has a problem seemed to be awful but then actually it was never that bad.
A close friend of mine phoned me in Florida to say he was being bullied out of his job and would I appear at his tribunal to support him when I got home. He was absolutely panicking that he would lose his job and his car, house and everything he worked for. The way he spoke to me was like it had already happened as he was living the fear!
He called me last night to say it had made him look for other jobs and he had been offered a job 30 minutes nearer home, more money, more training and that the cloud had a silver lining after all.
And that happens so much! Whenever you have a problem always look for the opportunity, and always look for how to make the problem fun! Like seeing if you skid a wheelchair...
Have a great week and cya Saturday!
Mike ;-)

Modelling Excellence
|
|
I am presuming by you reading this article that you want to get better at being slim, that you want to trim down your weight and then become an expert at being a non-dieter.
So what skills do you need to do this?
I recently started working on a new technical system I knew nothing about. I wanted to be an expert in it as it was important to really understand the system inside out so I could get the best from it.
So what skills did I need to do this?
Well, I read the book cover to cover, that certainly helped, but what I needed was to learn from someone who was really good at using it.
So I got in touch with an expert who had a successful implementation of it and I modelled what he did. I basically copied him!
In dieting, people rarely do this!
A lot of people are bonded in diet relationships where they 'struggle together' and although that is great for friendship bonding it doesn't actually help when you are trying to get slim.
For me, empathy is the key to getting slim but not sympathy. It doesn't help someone I am working with if I agree with them that it is hard, it doesn't help them if I don't believe in them anymore than they do.
So turning this to you...
Are you modelling excellence?
Do you speak to 'naturally' slim people and ask them what they do?
Do you watch slim people eat and notice their eating habits?
People tend to talk about what doesn't work and not what does work.
If you ask me what one of the biggest things that got my head in the right place after 20 years then the answer is 'Because I set a goal in the future that I wanted so much that I let nothing and nobody stand in my way'
To know that you would have to model what I did, but you'd also have to ask me!
If you ask me, find out, copy me and you will get the same result.
So have you got slim and happy friends you can speak to? Have you got a friend who used to have a problem but got round it?
As a society we study problems. If you go to a hospital they study disease and we all focus on what we don't want. But start modelling success, start looking for what works and then copy it!
Have a great week
Mike ;-)

I know I have mentioned this book before but I read it again on holiday and it is just such an amazing read.
This is written by a former nurse who used to think differently and get amazing results.
You cannot help but smile, cry and be inspired by this guy and can't recommend this enough.
Brilliant!
