Greetings!

How are you? Are you ok? Are you excited about this lovely Spring weather that is currently with us, or are you still expecting more of the cold, horrible wintry weather to come back?

Are you planning on a lovely walk out over the weekend to enjoy the fresh air or are you staying in to avoid the cold?

How you perceive, or think about, something is usually how you will find it. I have mentioned it before but one of my mottos when trimming down was "Believe You Can, Believe You Can't, Whichever Way You'll Be Right" and I absolutely believe that is true.

When working with people 1-2-1 I would guesstimate I am about 90% accurate on whether or not they will succeed in reducing weight within ten minutes of talking to them. And therefore, my job as a coach is to coach them from believeing they can't to believeing, and in fact knowing, that they can.

Ultimately everyone, every single person on the planet who is overweight, can be slim if they eat the right amount of food for their body. My question for anyone 1-2-1 is for them to realise why they really overeat and then choose to do something different. I had someone E-Mail last Thursday to tell me that losing weight is incredibly hard and not everyone can find it easy like I did. My answer was simple, I found it hard from the age of 10 up to the age of 32 and never got the results I wanted, when I decided it was easy and fun I reduced my weight in six months! Why not try thinking it is fun and easy and if after six months you haven't reduced your weight then go back to thinking it is hard again :-)

This week's article is called "Laugh Your Way To Slimdom" which covers what I have said about above and also some visualisation.

Before I leave you this week, I went out for a business dinner last night. When I was there I sat next to a lovely lady who I had never met before and we were sharing a dessert menu. There were 5 things on the menu ranging from chocolate pudding to cheese and biscuits.

I asked her what she wanted and she said

"Can't have the chocolate pudding as it'll be full of fat"

and then

"Better not have the cheese as it will give me nightmares"

So eventually she went for some ice cream....the point is she had made her choice based on what she couldn't have, or perceived she couldn't have.

When the ice cream turned up she looked very dissapointed at her two scoops of chocolate ice cream while everyone else was having their puddings...so I offered her half of mine as it was very rich anyway and I wouldn't have finished it. She was then absolutely fine but this is the choice/prison sentence mentality again. If you are always making food choices based on what you can't have then ultimately you are in a prison sentence as most people in prison tend to want to escape and "blow the bloody doors off"

Anyway I hope you have an amazing week!!

Cya Saturday

Laugh Your Way To Slimdom

Why Would You Not Enjoy The Ride?

I was always confused when I was on my last diet why I hadn't done it sooner! I was loving the fact I was feeling healthier, had more energy, was able to buy lovely clothes and was getting loads of compliments...therefore why would I not enjoy the ride?

I used to talk about Slimdom as if it was a town that I was going to arrive at. I used to joke about when I got to Slimdom I was going to be building a nice big four bed detached and settling down there for the rest of my life. I could even picture myself slim in my nice big house in Slimdom!

Therefore, I had a target in my mind and, even better, I never doubted the target or the result and in no way did it feel unachievable or alien to me.

It is important to laugh and enjoy the ride because, for example, if I say to you now how many FOR SALE signs did you see last time you put your house up for sale and looked to move, or when you were getting a new car how many more of that make and colour of car did you suddenly seem to notice?

The human mind has a system for finding what it is expecting to see. So if you are looking for the fun and enjoyment of being on a diet and what that can offer you, then you will find it.

If you think that being on a diet is a hard time and not much fun then that is exactly what you will look for and find.

Because the mindset of dieting is just a perception, for example Jo and I went out on Saturday night and played Bingo! I knew I would be bored stiff and not want to be there but she already knew that she would enjoy it and love crossing out random numbers for cash.

Therefore that is exactly what happened, I didn't like it and she did! Now we both experienced the same Bingo session, we both sat there crossing out legs eleven and yet she perceived it as fun and I perceived it as boring.

But ultimately she enjoyed the experience and I didn't...she also won £20 but there you go!

So turning this to you, do you enjoy dieting? If not, are you looking for the good stuff? With whatever diet you choose and whatever weight you may be starting from there are always short term gains, medium term gains and then the big final result of you being slim.

If you don't believe me by the way that it can be fun then just try it for one week for me...for one week just realise how amazing you can be at reducing weight...whenever you think you are struggling or may have trouble then look for the positives, look for something to make you smile, and of course remind yourself of why you want to be slim and visualise yourself being there.

And as my final point to hopefully prove this, just say this sentence for me

FUN SMILE HAPPY SLIM LAUGH JOKE ENJOY LAUGHTER

And then tell me that you couldn't start to feel like you wanted to smile? Because your body can't stop itself reacting to what you think. Therefore believe you can and you will.

As a final thought before you mail me and say what about the tough days etc...I sat there on Xmas Day 2005 not eating anything and watching nine people eat their Xmas Dinner...to keep myself amused I wired up 12 party poppers to all detonate at the same time and shot them across the dinner table half way through dinner, now I was looking for something to enjoy about the experience and I found one.

I hope you have an amazing, fun, smily, happy, laughter filled, jokey Saturday and cya next week.

Mike :-)
Confidence
ConfKnow Your Confident..

I love this confidence book, and also it's sister book persuasion, these are fantastic "airport" books that really do help you realise why you do what you do and do something else.

This book specifically explains about your inner voice and how to really talk to that inner voice and realise what it is trying to do. The reality is that at your core you are a very confident, nice, easy going, lovely person and therefore you just need to realise it :-)

A great read and available from Amazon at
