OhIPL Earthkeeping Summit
Saturday March 31, 2012
OSU 4-H Center
It is finally March, the month of the Earthkeeping Summit!

You are invited to attend an Earthkeeping Summit sponsored by Ohio Interfaith Power and Light, The School of Environment and Natural Resources at OSU, and OSU Climate Change Outreach Team, on March 31, 2012, at the 4-H Center at Ohio State University. Speakers to look forward to are Jason Box and Nancy Sleeth! We will be aiming for a Zero-Waste Event!

At the summit, we will raise up the challenges of energy, climate, and environment work that we've all been facing, revisit the moral and ethical foundations upon which our response stands and equip for meaningful engagement in our congregations.

EWAL: STORIES FROM AMERICA'S RELIGIOUS-ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT
Faciliated by Gregory Hitzhusen, MDiv, PhD
Tuesday, March 6, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Please register by March 5.

RENEWAL is the first feature-length documentary film to capture the vitality and diversity of today's religious-environmental activists. From within their Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Muslim traditions, Americans are becoming caretakers of the Earth. With great courage, these women, men and children are re-examining what it means to be human and how we live on this planet. Their stories of combating global warming, recycling, land preservation, and of teaching love and respect for life on Earth are the heart of RENEWAL. We will view four segments from the film featuring the following topics: Evangelical Christians bearing witness to mountaintop removal and the destruction of Appalachia; Green Sangha, a Buddhist community, leading a campaign to save trees; Muslim tradition and charity forging bonds between urban communities and sustainable farms; and the Teva Learning Center and Adamah bringing environmental education together with Jewish tradition;

Following each film segment, discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Gregory Hitzhusen, Executive Director of Ohio Interfaith Power and Light, who is also on the faculty at The Ohio State University, in the School of Environment and Natural Resources. Dr. Hitzhusen has a B.S. in ecology from Cornell University, an M.Div. concentrating in ecotheology from Yale Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in faith-based environmental education (Cornell).
