Just today, I received an email regarding the Ronald McDonald house needing help restocking their pantry shelves ASAP. If you are not familiar with the Ronald McDonald house, they provide food and housing for familiies whose children are being treated at local hospitals. They are families who do not live within driving distance of the hospital but who otherwise would not be able to see their children on a day-to-day basis.  They graciously take in the entire family during their time of need. To assist them, we'll be matching your non-perishable food donation can-for-can or box-for-box during the month of November.  Surely there is at least one item in your pantry that you can spare, even during these tough economic times...together we can make a big difference! As most of you know, after much anticipation, we received sumo wrestling suits in the beginning of October. They were to be made available during family fun night and birthday parties starting last month. However, when we received them, they were extremely stiff and very difficult to move in.  We decided to hold off on using them with customers until we could see if they were able to be broken in easiliy.  As some of you may have heard already, my husband and I attempted to do so in mid-October. As a result, I ended up with a pretty bad head injury and a short stay in the hospital. I must stress that it WAS my own fault, as I had not yet put my helmet on (as outlined in the directions) when I fell over backwards and hit my head on the floor.  We have not yet decided if we will be keeping the sumo suits or not. I certainly will not put any customers into them unless and until I know that another injury like this can be prevented.  I'm working with  the manufacturer currently to find out the best way to get the suits broken in quickly, and we'll go from there. I must stress though that IF we do decide to allow their use, they will be strictly for adults only, and used with extreme caution!  Just thought that I'd update you in case you'd heard about the accident or were wondering where the suits were and why they hadn't been available as of yet. Everyone's safety is our #1 concern!
