How We Are Walking Through Times Of Change Together |
|
September 22, 2010 Dear , Since we reached out to the community earlier in the year with concern over our financial deficit there have been numerous examples of those who have stepped forward with increased tithing of time, treasure and talents. It is because of all of us stepping forward and giving more in each of these areas that I have good financial news to report. August was a positive month generating a $4,458 surplus. This brings our year to date loss down to $23,352 and we are hopeful that we can close much of that loss by the end of the year. Providing we at least break even for the rest of the year, it will take a surplus of $5,838 per month to end the year at break-even. Traditionally during October, November and December we focus on foundational spiritual teachings, relating them to our individual spiritual journeys and applying them to our Unity community. One of the primary ways we do this is through our Adventure In Faith (AIF) program. Our AIF theme for 2010 is "I Am Seeing With Mystic Eyes." This year we will include a greater emphasis on all the components that make up our community, including the financial requirements. Throughout AIF we will bring awareness to our visionary budget for 2011 and invite each of us to step forward and make a commitment to upholding the vision. Each week I or another member of our leadership team will update you regarding commitments we have received and where we are relative to supporting our community through selfless service and financial commitments in the upcoming year. Included in our 2011 visionary budget is our projected expenses when all of the staff reorganization changes will be in effect. As of January 2011, we will have two full-time ministers, one part-time minister and five part-time staff positions. There will be no changes in our staff, only in the structure. This new staff structure will most affect our School of Light ministry. We are currently stepping into the mystery and asking that the vision be revealed regarding how our School of Light ministry will look beginning in 2011. Spiritual education continues to be a cornerstone of our campus of consciousness. Through visioning, strong selfless service leadership, and our part-time staff position, we know that School of Light will thrive and our community will continue to be fed by all the incredible teachers, classes and intensives offered here. As a part of our commitment to having a thriving Youth and Family Ministry we are bringing in our Unity Southwest Regional Youth Ministry Consultant, Jacquie Hardesty, to facilitate a review of our current program. Jacquie will utilize her 16 years of consulting and ministry expertise to assist us in reorganizing this ministry based on feedback from our families, teachers and general community. Our Youth and Family Ministry visioning with Jacquie Hardesty will be on Sunday, October 10 at 1:30 pm. I encourage anyone who has an interest, past or present, in our Youth and Family Ministry to attend so that your voice can be heard. Your Board, ministers and staff are working together to create a smooth transition from our current structure to the new structure. To ensure we are continuing to implement changes that are vision-oriented and for the good of the community, we are scheduling a strategic planning session that our entire community will be invited to participate in. The dates will be announced as soon as we know them. I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all of you that make up our spiritual community at Unity of Tustin. Many blessings to all of us who continue to support Unity of Tustin through tithes of time, treasure and talent as we come into balance and alignment. One with God, Jeff Treasurer, Board of Directors
