HOUSE INDUSTRIAL COMMITTEE SAID "YES" TO HB 432 FAMILY CARE ACT

Today, we're one step closer to working families being able to care for their children without fear of losing their jobs.  The House Industrial committee passed HB 432 out of committee.

However, we need your immediate help to move the legislation out of the House Rules committee by tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7.  So, please call/write members of the House Rules Committee now and ask them to vote "Yes" to place HB 432 on the calendar for a full vote by the House. Tomorrow is Crossover Day.  Crossover Day is the the last day that a bill can be voted on in the House and remain "alive" to be considered by the Senate.

Please make sure that you indicate that you are a constituent if your representative sits on the House Rules committee.  Below is an abbreviated list and a link to the full list of members.  Please call/write today.

CONTACT YOUR HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE - VOTE "NO" ON HB 861

HB 861 is expected to receive a vote on the House floor Wednesday (March 7) morning.  Please contact your state representative and tell him/her to vote "No" on "suspicionless" drug tests--which, by the way, are unconstitutional.  We need to stop the expedient political trend of making our working poor the scapegoat for what's wrong with the economy.

Please contact your state representative and encourage him/her to vote "No" on HB 861.

JOIN ICM IN BUILDING A "BRIDGE TO HARMONY"

"Religious persecution anywhere is a threat to religious freedom everywhere."  Whether it is the imprisonment of pastors Sadegh-Khanjani and Yousef Nadarkhani by the Iranian government or one of the 1,322 "religious-bias" hate crimes in the United States, the victims deserve more than our shock and our silence.  They deserve our commitment to build relationships of understanding, appreciation and respect across boundaries of religious institutions and spiritual practices.

Become a bridge builder and help build the "Bridge to Harmony" by sharing your stories of encouragement on ICM's facebook page of how you have reached out or how you plan to reach out in peace and friendship to persons not of your own faith tradition.
SPIRITUAL WITNESS FOR CHILDREN
Prayer
One of the most important things faith communities can do for children is to pray for them.

Every child is a child of God and deserves justice and compassion. Every child deserves our prayers.

ICM encourages every faith community to become a spiritual witness for children. Hold a worship service in your church, synagogue, mosque or temple and invite others to join in praying for the well-being of all children.
