Greetings!
robin's first flight

Happy Summer.  We found this little baby robin trying out his wings on our porch this morning.  He stopped for a visit, tried out a few short flights, then went on his way.

Jill Scholsohn
Jill ScholsohnLast month we introduced you to several new artists.  Over the next few months we will profile some of them in more depth. This month we'd like to tell you a bit about Jill Scholsohn and show you more of her beautiful work.

Jill Scholsohn
Ruby spiral necklace

Like many other artists, Jill left a high stress job in order to pursue her current career.  In 1997 she had begun a new career as a NYC paramedic. To reduce her stress level, she chose to take a kayak lesson in Cornwall, CT.  She married Dan Greenbaum, her kayak instructor, 3 years later. That was how Jill's jewelry company Riverstone was founded.

Lapis necklace

They both had a love of travel so they spent months traveling the world learning of other cultures and collecting artifacts. She discovered that she could combine her love of travel with an artistic sensibility, making things of beauty... a much lower stress lifestyle.

Golden elephant necklace

Jill's anthropology background is evident in the pieces of jewelry she creates. She uses a mixture of amulets, talismans along with rare, exotic beads and mediums  sourced from several cultures spanning the globe. In her work you'll find Indian Rubies, Ancient Coral, Turquoise dating back 2,000 to 4,000 years,  Gaspeite, Sugilite, Glass Seed Beads, Carnelian, Fossilized Mammoth and Walrus Tusk and more.

Pyrite bracelet

Jill's necklaces and bracelets have an ancient feel, while retaining a lovely delicacy not often associated with "ethnic" jewelry.
Affordable Blown Glass Vases
Blown glass is always beautiful, and often expensive.  Two of our favorite glass artists have begun making smaller vases.  Measuring about 6" tall, these vases have the same presence as larger pieces,  but are much more affordable.

Mashka
Geode slice by Mashka

Mashka surprises us with wonderful new designs every year.  This year she did a collection of druzy agates and geode slices combined with her wonderful asymmetrical sense of design.

janice Girardi

Janice Girardi's beautiful rings are made of sterling silver and semi precious stones.  Many of her rings, like this elegant peridot ring, are multiple stacking rings.  Wear one, two, or all of them for a variety of effects.

Heron by Marina Bosetti

We are excited to have new wall tiles from Marina Bosetti.  Many of you know Marina well, as she used to live here in Beaufort.  We have carried her work for years, and it just gets more and more beautiful!

Many of Marina's designs have an Arts and Crafts feel to them, like this rose.

She created the Heron series specifically for our coastal environment.  Just beautiful!
