Anne Lovett

Anne Lovett

"I am a self taught artist who began making jewelry in 2007 while spending the summer in Beaufort, NC. I was searching for a creative outlet aboard the good old boat C'est la Vie and hand forging silver became an instant hit.

I love working with natural stones, pearls, and semi-precious stones.  I am inspired by not only the environment that surrounds me but by the people who buy the work.

I get into super creative mode when someone approaches me and says, I want you to make something for my sister. She likes... It's like I am given a license to create. It means so much to me to know that someone out there is wearing something that was made expressly for them.

I have been so fortunate to be able to take my work with me while sailing and traveling. It is something creative that I can do not only while we are on anchor in remote islands in the Everglades just as easily as in my home in Beaufort."

Georgia Mason

Georgia Mason

Georgia Mason is a mixed media artist and teacher who lives in Emerald Isle.    She has painted in watermedia for many years, beginning with traditional watercolor, and then working with collage and mixed media.  She has studied with many nationally recognized artists and is a signature member of the Society of Layerists in Multi Media as well as a member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and Arts Council of Carteret County.

Garden Dance with Orchid

Her mixed media work involves a process of creating an underpainting using inks, watercolor and acrylics.   She uses various items such as alcohol, salt, waxed paper, saran wrap, as well as the laying down of various materials to create texture.  The painting is built using paint and papers, altering surfaces with transparent passages and opaque over-painting.    She often uses other materials, such as crayons, fabric, threads, rice papers, and tissues.

 Earthly Pleasures II

The work tends to speak as it progresses.   The intention is to paint something NEW.     The beauty of the pigments and the textures on the support is always exciting.    It is like putting a puzzle together.   The work changes as she is always seeking a different approach and a new challenge.     Her paintings often have a mystical ethereal quality to them, and things emerge that are totally unexpected.

"The Creative Eye", a show of Georgia's work,

will be presented at the Onslow County Arts Council in Jacksonville, NC from August 7-26.   Opening reception is Aug 7 from 2:30 to 4:00
