Jesse and JessicaNervous System

Nervous System was founded in 2007 by Jessica Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg.

"We created Nervous System to explore a design approach that relates process and form in a context of interactivity and openness. Our trajectory focuses on generative design methods using both algorithmic and physical tools to create innovative products and environments.

Normally we are attracted to complex and unconventional geometries. Our inspirations are grounded in the natural forms and corresponding processes which construct the world around us. From coral aggregations to interference patterns, a study of natural phenomena is an essential ingredient to our design process.

To evolve such forms, we systematically engage in generative processes. Instead of designing a specific form, we craft a system whose result is a myriad of distinct creations. These systems are interactive, responding both to changes in specific variables and to physical inputs."

Jessica Rosenkrantz graduated from MIT in 2005 and holds degrees in Architecture and Biology. Afterwards, she spent 2.5 years studying architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Jesse Louis-Rosenberg also attended MIT, majoring in Mathematics. He previously worked as a consultant for Gehry Technologies in building modeling and design automation.

Carrie SaxlCarrie Saxl

With a penchant for combining unexpected materials and pushing the envelope of traditional techniques, Carrie Saxl's jewelry puts reinvention at a premium. Add to that an aesthetic dictated predominately by organic modernism and it is little wonder that her work leaves a lasting impression.

Growing up in rural Kansas, Carrie was no stranger to challenging small town convention. She carries that sensibility in her jewelry design, challenging herself to create unique and novel pieces. From the designs that experiment with sewing techniques to pieces that juxtapose leather against metal mesh, Carrie's concept of design is about taking ideas rooted in fantasy and translating them into tactile pieces of wearable art.

Carrie began designing jewelry while studying costuming and fashion design at Columbia College in Chicago. Starting initially as a hobby, her creative propulsion and independent streak quickly transformed it into a full-blown business. In 2003, she named her line Blue Wild Indigo, a native Kansas flower, as a way of honoring her roots. Following her marriage in the fall of 2008 she decided to rename her autonomous jewelry line and Blue Wild Indigo became Carrie Saxl Jewelry.
