Steve Goodspeed
Steve Goodspeed, who formerly made his home in Beaufort, NC, is a self taught jeweler who currently resides in Virginia. He has been designing and creating jewelry full time for about 20 years.
A remakably versatile jeweler, Steve works in both sterling silver and gold, incorporating precious and semiprecious stones into his work. His designs are clean and classic, and his craftsmanship is exceptional.

Steve's current focus is on fusing metals together using techniques borrowed from the Far East. The earrings shown above employ a Korean process called keum boo in which sheets of 24k gold are fused to fine (pure) silver.

Steve also uses the Japanese technique of mokume gane (wood-grain metal). Dating from the 17th century, the Japanese originally fused layers of various metals together to form their sword blades. These laminated metals can be used to form beautiful designs. In the earrings above, Steve has used mokume gane combined with keum boo to create an exceptional pair of earrings.
