Winter Sunsets
With our unique South facing shoreline, we in Beaufort are one of the few places on the East Coast where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets over the water. In the winter they are spectacular. Here are a few.

Lisa Oakley
Lisa Oakley began blowing glass in 1994 when she immediately fell in love with the heat and fluidity of molten glass. She knew that glass was the creative outlet for which she had been searching and went on to build the first hot glass art studio in eastern North Carolina.
Much of Lisa's inspiration comes from the complexity of colors and patterns found in nature. Her work conveys a feeling of organic movement and texture, both visual and tactile.

Her work includes both decorative and functional vases, bowls and platters. She is also one of the few American glassblowers making furnace-pulled glass beads, which she then uses to create her own original line of jewelry.

Lisa graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in Psychology. She has studied glassblowing at Penland School of Crafts with instructors including Robert Levin, Norwegian glassblower Willy Aanderson, Robert Gardner, Ken Carder, Joe Nielander, Charles Correll, Gary Beecham, and Dudley Giberson among others. She also studied glass in Japan.
Lisa is member of the Glass Art Society and is an exhibiting member of Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild.

John & Linda Whitney

John and Linda Whitney currently make their home in Florida. They have been making art individually and together for over 35 years. An accomplished sculptor and painter, John continues to exhibit his paintings and prints.

Together, John and Linda recreate John's love of figure and form in their jewelry. Linda uses multi-textured metals, polymer clay, stones, and beads to build a landscape of polychromatic constructionaist wearable art.
Each piece is individually fabricated from brass, copper, and nickel silver and finished with heat patinas.
