Friday, November 14, 2008 - Pleasanton, CA - RASA Restaurants Inc., announced today that its new Tropical Fusion Won Tons, under the brand name, "Mahalo Grille", are now available for purchase at Costco*. These  tropically fused gourmet won tons are stuffed with cream cheese, fresh vegetables and jalapenos and are accompanied by a sesame ginger dipping sauce. These are the same won tons that guests enjoy in the restaurant.
Mahalo Grille gets its inspiration from the Hawaiian Islands by fusing tropical ingredients with time-honored, traditional dishes from all corners of the globe. The family owned restaurant celebrates this unique concept by providing a dining experience that is beyond ordinary. Now for the first time, you can bring a taste of paradise home, and enjoy Mahalo Grille's fusion style cuisine in the comfort of your own kitchen. Tropical Fusion Won Tons by Mahalo Grille are trans-fat free and take just a few minutes to prepare at home.
The concept for developing these tropical fusion won tons came about during the spring after some consumer in-house testing over the course of 4 weeks. The idea sprang from the original pork dumpling previously served in the restaurant. Mahalo guests said they wanted something lighter and with more flavor. Led by Executive Chef Josh Payton, the team moved forward with a complete recipe re-design and two weeks later the Tropical Fusion Won Ton was born.
The unique appetizers are a consistent top seller on the menu and have now evolved into five new products that Josh and his team are working on for a 2009 release. "It's hard to choose my favorite flavor as each one is so good, but the veggie won ton that is now in Costco leads the list," said Josh.
