Mahalo Grille featured at Gourmet East Bay!
Mahalo Grille is one of 40 select restaurants invited to participate in the annual Gourmet East Bay on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Gourmet East Bay is presented by Diablo Magazine and Broadway Plaza.

Executive Chef Josh Payton said "We are thrilled to be participating in this epicurious line-up of top tier restaurants from around the East Bay. The list of participants is a who's who from around the East Bay and it is quite an honor for us to be in their company".  Josh has a special treat for the attendees as they will be the first to sample the newest Tropical Fusion Won Ton - veggie style.

A Mahalo Welcome to our new Sous Chef, Kasia Lavigne
Joining Executive Chef, Josh Payton's team is new Sous Chef, Kasia Lavigne, who brings with her a wealth of experience. Lavigne has created and contributed to innovative menus across Europe and the United States for many years. Her early formative years were spent in Europe, where she learned the cuisine of the Old World.

Chef Lavigne brought these fundamental skills to the U.S. where she continued her development and education by earning her Cordon Bleu culinary degree from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco.  That experience and formal training further shaped her culinary philosophy - a creative, but straightforward style of cooking based on quality and integrity.

A resident of Pleasanton, she loves the eclectic cuisine of the area and its global influences and emphasis on locally grown ingredients.  Lavigne has recently worked at the Crow Canyon Country Club's fine dining restaurant as well as at Guckenheimer's executive dining in San Ramon.

Lavigne's culinary secret weapon - a Santoku knife.  Her passion is traveling and incorporating the best flavors she encounters into her own cooking. Lavigne says, "There is no bad cuisine, there are only bad cooks." Mahalo Grille is thrilled to have such a great talent on board as a new member of its team - welcome Kasia!
