City of San Francisco Challenges GLBT
History Museum With $17K Matching Grant
San Francisco -- The City of San Francisco has issued a challenge to the GLBT Historical Society in the form of a $17,00 matching grant to support operations of The GLBT History Museum, which the society opened in the city's Castro District in January 2011. To qualify for the funds, the society must raise an additional $17,000 from new individual donors or increased donations from past donors.
"Now is the time for everyone who supports queer public history to make a first-time donation or to supplement any recent donation," says Paul Boneberg, executive director of the GLBT Historical Society. "Through the city's challenge grant, every dollar our supporters give will be doubled. No amount is too small or too large. If you give $10, the city will turn it into $20 -- and if you give $500, the city will make it $1,000."
Donations may be made by credit card or check, online or by mail. The GLBT Historical Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so all donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by U.S. law. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.glbthistory.org/donate.
