The third season of SAMA's yearlong exhibition, Seasons of Beauty: Thirty-two Aspects of Daily Life, presents prints 17-24 of the 32 prints comprising this famous series that documents the lives of women in 18th-19th century Japan. Prints in the third season feature women in diverse activities such as dining, shopping, and playing music. These prints are among the greatest works by print artist Taiso Yoshitoshi (1839-1892). www.samuseum.org

The San Antonio Art League & Museum recently named Ann Griffith as the recipient of the Ethel T. Drought Founders Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts. The presentation will be made on May 26 at a reception from 5-7 pm at The Argyle. www.saalm.org

A poem written by Trinity University junior Phil LaDeau has been chosen for publication in the spring 2010 issue of The Collegiate Scholar, a national publication produced by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). www.trinity.edu

May is Historic Preservation Month, and the City's Office of Historic Preservation is celebrating with the first ever Amazing Preservation Race.  Elementary-aged children can complete physical activities and use clues to race through the King William Historic District. www.sanantonio.gov/historic

To commemorative the one-year anniversary of the Museum Reach, the San Antonio River Foundation commissioned a book titled The River Spectacular: Light, Sound, Color & Craft on the San Antonio River to chronicle the design, construction and installation of nine public art pieces along the new 1.3 mile stretch of the San Antonio River Walk. The book will be unveiled on Saturday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at The Twig Book Shop where author Wendy Atwell and photographer Mark Menjivar will be on hand to discuss the process of documenting one of the city's largest public art installations. www.sariverfoundation.org

This year, the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation department celebrates 75 years of dance, and honors dance program founder Berta Almaguer. The Parks and Recreation Department proudly boasts the longest running municipal dance program in the country.
