More than looking at the idea of the road trip from a nostalgic point of view, On the Road explores the idea of the road trip as a rite of passage, a journey towards liberation and emancipation on the way to a destination that is largely unknown but that holds the promise of freedom and self-discovery. The Copperleaf Quintet, is the newest project by Benissimo! Music Productions, a Texas non-profit organization promoting musical excellence and integrity in vocal performance. Trabajo Rústico: Fantasies in Cement Symposium: May 15 Exhibition: May 6 - 30 Southwest School of Art & Craft 300 Augusta
In celebration of Historic Preservation Month, this exhibition presents a rich history of trabajo rústico artists and their works, including digital video interviews with Patsy Pitman Light, Carlos Cortés, and landscape architect, Kim Wolf; large-scale photographic reproductions of site-specific public projects; archival materials and maps; and actual examples of finished Trabajo Rústico pieces. On May 15, there will be a free morning symposium exploring these distinctive sculptures, followed by a reservation-required afternoon bus tour of Trabajo Rústico works by Dionicio Rodríguez, and Maximo and Carlos Cortés, including a visit to Cortés' studio, and ending with a demonstration by Carlos Cortés. www.saconservation.org or www.swschool.org

In honor of Dance Month in San Antonio, the May Artist of the Month is The City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Dance Program, and its founder, Berta Almaguer.
This year, the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation department
celebrates 75 years of dance, and honors dance program founder Berta
Almaguer. The Parks and Recreation Department proudly boasts the
longest running municipal dance program in the country.
