The event focuses on Tatiana Bilbao within the context of contemporary Mexican art and architecture, and how contemporary architecture affects the economic, social and cultural concerns of modern-day Mexico. Tatiana Bilbao is one of the key figures of the younger generation of 21st Century architects. The interactive and social nature of her projects reflect the complexities of globalism. Her structures and spaces open renewed possibilities for communication, circulation, and production in our daily lives. The symposium coincides with the exhibit, The Architecture Of Tatiana Bilbao, 2004 - 2010, on display April 8-June 20 at the Instituto Cultural de México. The exhibition opens with a reception Thursday, April 8 at 6 pm. www.MX2010.com

The annual Art in the Garden exhibit at the San Antonio Botanical Garden showcases the work of artist Albert Paley. Known for his integration of art and architecture, Paley exhibits his contemporary steel sculptures throughout the 33 acres of the Botanical Garden. The exhibit features a diverse set of steel sculptures: some reflect the influence of surrealism while others lean towards abstraction. www.sabot.org

Film screeningThe Office of Cultural Affairs and the San Antonio Film Commission announced the winners of The San Antonio Neighborhood Film Project during screening event March 26 at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Five finalists were screened in each neighborhood category, for a total of 15 films. Students were awarded $1000 each and Non-Students were awarded $3,000 each. A special thank you to all of the talented filmmakers for all of their hard work and dedication.

Palmer Hall is a local writer, as well as an editor/publisher of Pecan Grove Press, a press that has been a part of the San Antonio arts community for close to twenty-five years.
