ATOS Bruce Metcalf, The Miniature Worlds
February 11 - April 11
Southwest School of Art & Craft
1201 Navarro

Bruce Metcalf is an acclaimed sculptor working primarily in metals, whose works and writings on the interactions of art and craft have made him one of the country's most recognizable thought-leaders in contemporary art circles. In this exhibition, diminutive size matters. Cast in silver or carved in wood, Metcalf's vulnerable protagonists animate contemporary issues on the stage of miniature worlds. Hear master Metcalf discuss his career, his philosophies and his work in a free public lecture Friday February 12 at 6pm. The exhibit opens with a reception February 11 at 5:30pm. Spanish Governor's Palace

Originally called the Presidio San Antonio de Bejar, the Spanish Governor's Palace is all that remains of the garrison that helped bring security and safety for Spanish colonists to the region. For a limited time only, come take a sneak peak through a unique opportunity to tour the building and learn how historians, architects, and archaeologists have worked together to preserve its historic integrity. The tour will include presentations by the architect Tom Robey and the contractor, Mike Boyle. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn the history of the building and to appreciate the beautiful Spanish Colonial architecture before the collection is re-installed in the rooms. ATOSIf You Give a Moose a Muffin
February 16 - March 20
The Magik Theatre
420 S Alamo

If a big, hungry moose comes to visit, you might give him a muffin to make him feel at home. If you give him a muffin, he'll want some jam to go with it. When he's eaten all your muffins, he'll want to go to the store to get some more muffin mix. In this hilarious sequel to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, the young host is again run ragged by a surprise guest. Last year, the boy was visited by a tiny, fast-moving mouse. This year, his guest is bigger and his head is adorned by a gigantic set of antlers. www.magiktheatre.org
