Bernice Appelin-Williams Through February 25 St. Philip's College Watson Fine Arts Center, Morgan Gallery 1801 Martin Luther King Dr.
St. Philip's College is celebrating Black History Month with a series of events in February, including an exhibit of work by San Antonio artist Bernice Appelin-Williams. Appelin-Williams began her career in the 1980s by producing collages, installations and assemblages that often reflected political, spiritual and social issues. Always challenging or inquiring, she began to explore the formal possibilities inherent in her assemblages/ installations, first through floor-standing sculpture and multi-media constructions, then site installations, mixed media collages; always incorporating collage with both metaphysical and ethnic references. www.alamo.edu/spc
