Dance Historias y Recuerdos

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center presents Historias y Recuerdos, an original dance project featuring the Guadalupe Dance Company. Historias y Recuerdos incorporates traditional Mexican dance and music framed by a video backdrop of San Antonio stories. This unique combination of oral histories, traditional dance and modern technology creates a theatrical experience for audiences of all ages. www.guadalupeculturalarts.org
DanceGingerbread Design Challenge

The San Antonio Children's Museum, American Institute of Architects San Antonio and West East Design Group have partnered to bring San Antonio a new holiday tradition, the Gingerbread Design Challenge. Teams of local architects and contractors came together in a timed "Iron Chef" style competition to demonstrate their skills by designing and building one of the holiday season's most lasting images, Gingerbread Houses. www.sakids.org

Dance Full Steam Ahead!

Using an actual steamroller, StoneMetal Press will print large scale woodcuts by six San Antonio artists in the parking lot of the Blue Star Arts Complex. Music, refreshments, a children's activity station along with a cake walk have been added to this years event to escalate the fun of printmaking. Artists include Alex Rubio, Gary Sweeney, Luis Valderas, Paul Karam, Adriana Garcia, and Michelle Love. www.stonemetal-press.com

AOTMNovember Artist of the Month
DanceThe November Artist of the Month is Carmen "La Chiqui" Linares.

Carmen Linares "La Chiqui", began her dance instruction at age three in her home-town San Juan, Puerto Rico. At age eleven she presented her first Ballet show with choreographies of her own. This achievement earned her a certificate from the Dance Educators of America as a certified Ballet instructor. Later on she became a member of the Ballet de San Juan directed by Ana Garcia. At age sixteen, the government of San Juan, Puerto Rico awarded Chiqui a dance scholarship to continue her dance instruction in Ballet and Classical Spanish dance in Spain.
