Artpace Say Sí's third Annual Muertitos Fest

SAY Sí's annual Muertitos Family Fest celebrates the Day of the Dead by expanding people's understanding of the rich traditions and cultures that tie our city to Mexico and commemorates the rich Hispanic traditions of San Antonio. The three-day festival includes local artists, an exhibit of master Mexican printmakers, student exhibits of traditional folk art, altars created to honor the deceased, family workshops, food booths, artisans' stalls, and live music and dance performances. www.saysi.org

"Five years ago, Carmen "La Chiqui" Linares moved to Florida hoping to retire from the dance world. But that proved rather impossible. Not only did the beloved flamenco teacher end up teaching some classes in Orlando, she also periodically returned to San Antonio to share her expertise with students at Academia de Arte Flamenco in weeklong intensive sessions. Now she's back for good, as is her guitarist husband Jose Linares."
