Jesse Treviño: Mi Vida is a major retrospective examining the career of nationally recognized artist Jesse Treviño, a seminal figure in the Chicano art movement. Jesse Treviño: Mi Vida will be comprised of approximately 50 paintings, including two works from the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, 20 works on paper, as well as ephemera documenting Treviño's life. www.thealameda.org

The symposium speakers range from a representative of the Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) in Los Angeles, to such seminal artists as Joan Jonas from MIT and Sandy Stone from UT to Chris Taylor, an architect with the "Land Arts of the American West" program who is leading a group of students on a sojourn through the Southwestern U.S. in search of land art outcroppings which will culminate in five days living on the LHI land simultaneous to the symposium.
