August Artist of the Month

The September Artist of the Month is artist Joan Frederick.
Joan Frederick lives in San Antonio, and is an artist, writer, photographer and Indian art historian. Her current exhibition of work, So Much Art, So Little Time, a 30-Year Restrospective, is located at the Carver Community Cultural Center through September 30, 2009. The exhibit is part of FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA. One of the many Fall Art Festivals happening across the City.

San Antonio earns international recognition for downtown projects San Antonio Business Journal (9/17/09) "Luminaria: Arts Night in San Antonio received the Pinnacle Award, the association's highest honor. Luminaria provides a comprehensive showcase of talent and creativity on a larger scale than any other city in the United States, according to IDA. San Antonio is the only city in Texas and only the second in the United States to have a day-long celebration in the arts."

ALO names artist-in-residence Austin American Statesman (9/16/09) Jeanne Claire van Ryzin "The Austin Lyric Opera has named Vincent Frittelli, former concertmaster for the opera orchestra, as the artist-in-residence at the opera's Armstrong Community Music School."
