August Artist of the Month

The August Artist of the Month is writer, producer and artist Victor Payan.
Victor Payan is an award-winning writer, producer and artist who uses humor and satire to address issues of border culture and social justice. A San Diego native who moved to San Antonio in 2007, he works independently and in collaboration with creative partners to create engaging multi-faceted interventions, such as the masked Mexican wrestler project Aztec Gold with Lou Chalibre, and the Keep on Crossin' movement.

The Alameda School: A place for art & design Conexión (8/13/09) Jennifer Herrera "As arts programs nationwide are being cut, San Antonio's arts and cultures scene is thriving with the opening of the Henry Ford Academy: Alameda School for Art+Design. The charter high school, based on the nationally recognized model first implemented at the Henry Ford Academy in Dearborn, Mich., will open its doors Aug. 26 to 120 freshmen students."

This summer, they say, they'd be content with a little respect at home. At issue is a proposal in the pending city budget that would combine the Office of Cultural Affairs with the city library system."
