The Tobin Hill Arts Alliance kicks off its first of monthly Second Friday "Art-On-The-Hill" Showcase. The art walk will celebrates the work of over 20 talented artists that specialize in painting, sculpture and metal work. The June Artist of the Month is Enrique Patrón De Rueda.
One of the most recognizable talents in the world of opera, Enrique Patrón De Rueda has an impressive list of credentials including appointments as the head of the Orchestra at the Theatre of Bellas Artes, Artistic Director of the National Opera Company, Artistic Director of the Seasonal Opera Concerto of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Mexico and Artistic Director for the Sinaloan Cultural Festival. Maestro Patron is currently Principal Visiting Conductor for the San Antonio Opera.

Art centers get new leaders San Antonio Express News (6/11/09) "The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center isn't the only local arts organization to see changes this year."
TEXAS Conference Committee version of HB 3 passes Senate and House GoArts News (6/03/09) "Fine arts education gained ground in Texas late last night as the House and Senate adopted the conference committee report of HB 3 (the school accountability bill). For high school, the bill not only retains the one-credit fine arts graduation requirement but also allows students six electives which will make it possible for students to take more fine arts courses. For middle school, the bill creates a new requirement for one fine arts course in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade."
NATIONAL Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund Launches $2.5 Million Arts Recovery Initiative Philanthropy News Digest (6/08/09) "The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, an initiative of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, has announced a two-year, $2.5 million initiative designed to stabilize small and midsize arts organizations facing unprecedented financial challenges."
