Ballet San Antonio presents "Off Center," a mixed-repertory performance of contemporary choreography by local and guest choreographers at the Carver Community Cultural Center. Traditional Folk Art from the Canary Islands

"La Alfombra" is a multi-colored tapestry spanning the width of San Fernando Cathedral made with naturally colored volcanic sand brought directly to San Antonio from El Teide in the Canary Islands. The official unveiling and artist meet & greet is Saturday, March 7 at 10 am. Sunday March 8 at 11 am San Antonio's Founding Heritage presents a dramatic reenactment of the Canary Islanders arrival in San Antonio. Also on Sunday, Archbishop José H. Gomez will lead a ceremonial procession over "La Alfombra" as a dynamic interactive conclusion of the festivities at 3pm. The events commemorate the 278th Anniversary of the Canary Islander's Arrival in San Antonio. www.friendsofthecanaryislands.net

MellissaGet to know San Antonio artists! The March artist of the month is actor/director Mellissa Marlowe.
 
Mellissa Marlowe is a performer and director for the theatre, who specializes in bringing new works to the stage and adapting classics for modern audiences.  She has performed in over forty productions in the San Antonio area, and has directed more than twenty plays.
