TrinityTwo Sam Shepard One-Act Plays:
Icarus's Mother / Action
February 20 - 28
Trinity University, Ruth Taylor Theater Bldg.
One Trinity Place

Sam Shepard's groundbreaking and Pulitzer Prize winning plays mix extreme realism with surreal visions of America at the brink of disaster. "Icarus's Mother" (1965) follows five friends as they watch a jet plane perform stunts and ultimately upstage the 4th of July fireworks. "Action" (1975) shows a devastatingly funny, absurd, and post-apocalyptic household trying to carry out domestic rituals on a Christmas day in the future. www.trinity.edu/departments/speech_and_drama/
CarverGarth Fagan Dance
February 21, 8 pm
Carver Community Cultural Center
226 N. Hackberry

Garth Fagan, Founder and Artistic Director, has been called "a true original" and "one of the great reformers of American dance." His singular dance language draws on many sources: the sense of weight in modern dance, the torso-centered movement and energy of Afro-Caribbean, the speed and precision of ballet, and the rule breaking experimentation of the post-moderns. www.thecarver.org

AOTM - FEbGet to know San Antonio artists! The February artist of the month is musician and Conjunto Heritage Taller founder Rodolfo S. Lopez.

Rodolfo Lopez co-founded, and is president of the Conjunto Heritage Taller, a non profit organization in San Antonio, Texas, dedicated to teaching the traditional music played with accordion and bajo sexto. Their mission is to perpetuate this culturally important folk music by teaching it to "youth of all ages."  This endeavor, which is in its 7th year, has been a resounding success with widespread community support.  Rodolfo plays bajo for many of the Taller's presentations and accompanies the students during their classes.
