Sam Shepard's groundbreaking and Pulitzer Prize winning plays mix extreme realism with surreal visions of America at the brink of disaster. "Icarus's Mother" (1965) follows five friends as they watch a jet plane perform stunts and ultimately upstage the 4th of July fireworks.
