Latino Music Fest November 8, Noon Main Plaza Main Street & Commerce Due to Hurricane Ike, the 1st Annual Latino Music Festival originally scheduled for September 12 & 13 was cancelled. It is now back as a one-day, twelve-hour event in the heart of San Antonio featuring many artists originally scheduled including The Westside Horns with Special Guest Augie Meyers, The Krayolas, and Pinata Protest. New to the line-up: Plaza Espectáculo, intimate plaza-level performances located throughout the Plaza. The San Antonio chapter of the American Institute of Architects presented their 2008 Design Awards Wednesday at a dinner and ceremony at the Pearl Stable. The top honor given by the AIA local chapter went to Kell Muñoz Architects and Lake/Flato Architects. The awards honor local AIA members for their contributions in the creation of aesthetically pleasing buildings that stand the test of time. www.aiasa.org

New Resources for San Antonio Arts Organizations and small businesses: StayExempt.org, the web-based version of the popular Exempt Organization workshops, has added new mini-courses on the redesigned IRS Form 990 to the online materials already available. The site now has the original five virtual workshop sessions, five mini-courses that cover topics important to tax-exempt organizations, and five mini-courses discussing aspects of the redesigned annual return (Form 990) for exempt organizations. Get to know San Antonio artists! The November artist of the month is writer and performer Vincent Toro. Vincent Toro is a Puerto Rican poet, playwright, performer, and educator from New York. He is currently the Theater Arts Director at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in San Antonio and is featured in "2 to Watch" this month at Gemini Ink.
