July kicks off Main Plaza's Flamenco Fridays, a live music and dance performance. Flamenco Fridays awakens emotions and longings for the essence of Spain with fresh engaging performances dedicated to preserving the art of flamenco. In an intimate outdoor setting, the audience will experience a vast array of styles, colorful traditional costumes as they feel the passion of Spanish flamenco driven to the beat of the classical guitar and the clicking of castanets. www.mainplaza.org

Rubin, will conduct informal conversations Tuesdays in July with artists in the Museum's collection. On July 8 he sits down with Bettie Ward to discuss her work. Gi-Normous Prints features a selection of 4'x 8' steamrolled prints from StoneMetal Press' large scale print projects. Artists include Alex Rubio, Luis Valderas, Paul Karam, Bernice Williams, Katie Pell and Hebron Chism. The exhibition also features a series of woodcuts by Regina Sanders from PrintDance, a collaboration between StoneMetal Press and Modacolab printed by the movements of modern dancers performing on the plates, and large scale woodcuts from YuthCrue, StoneMetal Press' printmaking project with the youth of the Cyndi Taylor Krier Juvenile Correctional Treatment Center. This evening of song and dance is a variety show for all ages set in historic Arneson River Theater in La Villita. BRAVO! features award winning summer dance performances, featuring the Parks and Recreation Department's dance troupes. Experience the colorful, traditional costumes and dramatic performance. Absorb the drama of traditional folkloric numbers, such as the Mexican Hat Dance and Mexican Polkas danced to the unique rhythms of the accordion. The exhibition includes recent works by both established and emerging area artists who use time or space as major themes in their work. July Artist of the Month

Rolando BriseņoGet to know local San Antonio artists! The May artist of the month is Rolando Briseņo.
 
Rolando Briseņo's public art commissions can be found worldwide, including projects at the Houston Intercontinental Airport, a dynamic sculptural installation at the North White Plains Railroad Station, commissioned by MTA Arts For Transit, and Metro North, NYC, as well as a piece commemorating the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city of San Antonio. Future public art commissions include covered walkways for three bridges over the San Antonio River as part of the Museum Reach project, the Terminal Expansion Project at San Antonio International Airport and projects at two Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority rapid transit stations.
