SaySiCycles: Cycles

SAY Sí presents Cycles, featuring new work from Mike Schroeder, Jorge Garza, Claudio Aguillon, Rolando Garza and Jon Hinojosa. A portion of the sales help support programs at SAY Sí. Students in the San Antonio community are asked to create an illustration or sculpture based on superheroes they know and admire such as teachers, parents, coaches, police-people, grandparents, political figures or even friends. Superheroes, an exhibition of drawings and sculpture created by participants, opens with a reception on May 3 at 1pm. Xavier Garza, author and illustrator of the children's book "Lucha Libre: The Man with the Silver Mask," will make a special presentation. 210.432.1896

Become inspired by the large-scale photographs taken by George O. Jackson, Jr. as you learn about line, color, composition and form. Create your own self-portraits and masks and master the art of face painting across cultures. Activities include; use your voice, body and imagination to act out a story, create masks and use body paint based on the imagery found in the George O. Jackson, Jr. exhibition, explore self-portraits as a way to reflect and construct an individual's identity and explore folklore and myth in indigenous culture. www.samuseum.org
