Occasionally I get an idea or image in my mind that somehow makes it's way to paper but, for the most part, my inspiration comes from what I see. A shadow, a shape, a unique structure, but it is mostly light and reflected light that gets my attention.
Just south and west of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania is a wonderful 900 acre country property. Nestled deep in the heart of this estate is a small farm known as the North Farm. As I quietly strolled the grounds and studied the tranquil scene, I was captivated by the way the early evening light embraced the entire landscape. The rolling hills, meadows, tree-lined vistas, and historic structures became an artist's delight. The composition suggests a pump house, farm house, and pond all draped in the tones and rich colors of early evening.
Evening at North Farm has been faithfully reproduced from the original watercolor on the finest acid free paper. Each impression has been personally signed and numbered by the artist.
